Feyenoord manager Arne Slot reflectd on how last season’s defeat to Roma influenced his side’s attitude in the Europa League.
After dropping to the Europa League from their Champions League group stage, Slot declared himself confident in his team’s campaign.
“I see excellent prospects for us in the Europa League this year,” Slot said in his post-match press conference on Tuesday night.
“After last year’s defeat to Roma at Stadio Olimpico, we started playing in a certain way and we also showed it in the Champions League. This will help us move forward in the Europa League.”
Last season, Roma were able to overcome Feyenoord and complete a major comeback in extra-time. Slot’s Feyenoord were also beaten by the Giallorossi in the 2022 Conference League final in Tirana.
